Expedition Log #5 | Celeste Together We Overcome

November 26th, 2025 - So, here we are. We’ve taken the blows. We’ve been knocked down and brought to our lowest point, but now we stand on the precipice of what we came here to do. To conquer the mountain.
But the summit isn’t just another level. It is the culmination of every part of our journey. Every fall. Every struggle. Every misstep. Every section of the climb asks you to use what you’ve learned, testing the patience built through failure and the persistence earned from countless retries. It feels more like a walk through memory lane if I’m being honest. We go through the initial climb and the hotel all the way to the mirror temple and beyond. But the feeling is different. The different segments echo what came before, but the music lifts everything higher, embodying a more hopeful, more resolute tone that reflects Madeline’s shift in attitude.
The difference here is that now we’re not climbing alone. What began as a solitary struggle transforms into a shared ascent. Madeline’s reconciliation with her other self changes everything. Instead of waging a war on two fronts, fighting herself while trying to overcome the mountain, these two parts of her unite to face the challenge together.
And it is a rewarding experience. Watching those last ten markers tick down is unforgettable. Ten, nine, eight… each step pulling us closer to the peak, until finally, it happens.
The climb has been many things — exhausting, introspective, rewarding, and perspective-shifting. Sitting here, gazing at the sun sitting just over the mountains, gives a moment to take in everything that has happened. To savor the victory over adversity and contemplate the person we are now versus who the person we were when we took that first step.
But everything must come to an end. We’ll have to head back down eventually, and when we do, we won’t be able to talk to the Part of Me anymore. At least, not in the physical sense. Yet the climb has changed us. While initially an adversary, she will remain a core part of who we are, even after the mountain is left in the rearview mirror.
And that’s about it. Our journey concludes with a small party, and everyone we’ve met along the way gathered together, enjoying a strawberry pie baked from all the fruit we collected during the climb.
And there we have it. The end — or at least, that’s what it feels like. But Celeste has more to offer. After everything we’ve been through, two more chapters remain: Chapter 8, The Core, and Chapter 9, Farewell. The mountain may be conquered, but the expedition isn’t quite finished yet.
