Expedition Log #8 | LEGO Batman: The Brick Knight Rises
Blind Playthrough
June 1st, 2026 - Good day, everyone! Ready for a brand-new adventure? Welcome to the next Expedition Log! Today, I’m diving into the NEW LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight. As a big fan of LEGO and the Dark Knight, picking up this title was a must. Despite this, I never played many of the older LEGO Batman or other LEGO games, aside from LEGO Star Wars. Still, what I’ve seen online has me hooked, and I’m excited to dive into this new expedition with LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight.
The Grey Ghost Strikes Again!
The game begins with us taking on the role of a young Bruce Wayne, excited to see the Grey Ghost movie at the theater with his parents. And right from the get-go, LEGO Batman hits you with the most impressive graphics for a LEGO game so far. Compared to what came before and even the previously released Skywalker Saga, it looks visually stunning, especially for a LEGO game. Of course, like any dedicated fan, Bruce wants to head to the theater in his Grey Ghost costume and, after some quick searching for the missing pieces, we have the complete ensemble together and are ready to go.
That is, until our hat is blown off and we head into the woods to recover it. As young Bruce passes by the trees with his father, it’s tough to watch what comes next. I wish he could just get his hat, go to the movies, and have a happy ending.
But we can’t change the past.
So, we all know the story from here. Bruce heads to the movies with his parents, where they take a detour down Crime Alley to avoid the crowds and are met with the fated gunman. This time, however, it’s not Joe Chill. It’s Jack Napier, complete with his famous “Ever dance with the devil in the pale moonlight?” It’s at this point that I am fully enthralled. The ‘89 Batman is one of my favorite movies of all time, so I am fully here for this.
Bruce and Gordon getting things done.
Fast forward to the present, Bruce aims to avenge his parents and take on Falcone. After a brief battle and the first taste of combat, he is beaten. The combat feels like a less punchy version of the Arkham series. Attacking and blocking are still present, but the impact seems weaker. Maybe it’s just me, but it’s worth noting. Ra's al Ghul appears, offering Bruce a chance to join the League if he can find the rare blue flower atop Nanda Parbat, beginning his new journey.
Overall, I'm having a lot of fun! Legacy of the Dark Knight starts strong, blending nostalgia, cinematic flair, and LEGO charm. While the combat feels underwhelming for now, I'm eager to see how it evolves. I look forward to uncovering secrets, revisiting iconic moments, and sharing more next time as we venture to Nanda Parbat in search of the rare blue flower.
See you next time!
